The national standard Economic Operation of Water Source Heat Pump System was implemented in December 2015

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China and the National Standards Commission approved and issued the national standard GB/T31512-2015 Economic Operation of Water Source Heat Pump Systems. This recommended national standard was formulated by the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Energy Foundation and Management on Rational Use of Electricity, and was implemented on December 1, 2015.



Water circulating in buried pipes, well water, lake water, river water, domestic sewage, industrial wastewater, or the water in the pipelines shared by the above types of water can be used as the cold source and heat source. These cold sources and heat sources can be used to produce cold air, hot air, cold water and hot water. The equipment for producing cold air, hot air, cold water and hot water is the water source heat pump system. In standard terms, a water source heat pump system is a whole composed of a water source heat pump unit and its supporting water system (water pump, cooling tower, etc.) and air system.



Great energy saving potential



How much energy or energy saving potential is contained in various types of water in buried pipes? Although there is still a lack of macro statistics, China's Energy Law has vigorously promoted the water source heat pump system as an energy-saving air-conditioning system. The Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Finance have jointly issued policies to promote the application of demonstration. Beijing, Tianjin, Shenyang and other major cities have provided financial support for the water source heat pump system. With the strong support of the national and local governments, the market capacity of water source heat pump equipment in China shows a growing trend.



Operation should be "economical"



Whether the cost of financial support can achieve the expected effect depends on the economy of water source heat pump system operation.



The economic operation of the water source heat pump system refers to the reasonable matching of the equipment and load in the system through scientific management, operation condition adjustment or technical improvement under the premise of meeting the process requirements, production safety and reliable operation, so as to achieve the working state of low energy consumption and good economy of the system. Water source heat pump technology is an energy-saving technology, but if problems occur in the design, construction and operation management of the system, it will also lead to unstable product operation, increased energy consumption and loss of its energy-saving advantages, thus affecting the promotion and application of this technology and the development of related industries. Therefore, it is of great significance to establish scientific and reasonable economic operation standards of water source heat pump system and use quantitative evaluation indicators to guide the operation of water source heat pump system.



This standard is a task of the Research on Energy Saving Standards and Energy Efficiency Labels of Main Energy using Products and Equipment undertaken by China National Institute of Standardization. It was launched in March 2009 and passed the review of the review meeting organized by the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Energy Foundation and Management and the Technical Committee for Rational Use of Electricity in December 2011. The standard specifies the basic requirements, evaluation indicators and methods for the economic operation of water source heat pump systems and energy conservation management measures. It is applicable to electromechanical compression water source heat pump systems that use water as the cold (heat) source, for household, industrial and commercial purposes, and for similar purposes.
